Pepsi Max Club

The Pepsi Max Club is an ActionScript 3.0 all flash web site built with Flex Builder and Flash CS4. Designed for mainly a young male audience, the site enabled users to upload humorous photos and videos of their own to enter a competition. A custom built caption editor tool allowed users to add their own humorous captions to videos selected from a clip library on the site. Users could also browse magazine style content and respond to it through a comments system and share video facebook, twitter etc.
A Flex Builder ActionScript 3.0 project, it is easier to develop, maintain, and collaborate across a team of developers in different time zones while maintaining high coding standards. I architected a caption editing tool and wrote user upload components, including an intuitive image cropping component.
The site features celebrity presenter videos overlayed on site content. This presented some problems regarding end user bandwidth and synchronisation. A careful balance of video bitrate, preloading where necessary and good timing means that the site flows naturally while being quite video heavy.
As with most of the projects I worked on at Microsoft, this site was localized for several markets, including german and norwegian.
