Coke Happiness Factory
2009-01-01
Following on from their successful Coke Happiness marketing campaign, Coke engaged the Branded Experience team at MSN to build 4 Windows Live Messenger games. All the games were multiplayer network games featuring graphics from their TV ad campaign. We collaborated closely with a team from Sapient in Florida who were handling the Coke Happiness website to commission all the 3D imagery needed since they were the primary agency engaged by Coke. There was little room for error due to time constraints.
It was important to thoroughly analyse the game concepts and rework them as needed prior to requesting any graphical assets. My prior experience in game development and knowledge of 3D tools and video tools was key in understanding what our requirements would be and communicating those efficiently to both our design team and the team from Sapient. I was also able to accelerate some of the design process through automation using After Effects scripts and sophisticated Photoshop actions.
My main role was that of coordinator between all the design teams and our development team. In addition, where the game concepts were difficult to visualise, I created proof of concept engines to allow pre-visualisation and testing of ideas.
